TRAINING: SHOTGUN

Why Choose a Shotgun?
The shotgun is one of the most potent, versatile, effective, and misunderstood close-quarters defensive weapons ever devised. In truth, its simple mechanics, extraordinary stopping power, and ability to deploy a wide variety of ammunition types make it an excellent defensive weapon.
Left of Center Gun School’s defensive shotgun curriculum consists of two complementary courses: Shotgun For Home Defense and Shotgun Shooter Workshop. Taken together, they build the skills that make an accurate, tactically sound defensive shotgun shooter. We provide a variety of tactical shotguns to train with. Neither course has prerequisites. Either can come first, though we recommend starting with Shotgun For Home Defense.
Course Description
We meet at Burro Canyon Shooting Park in Azusa, CA promptly at 9:30AM to check in and register. We supply the guns, ammo and targets. The course focuses on learning to fire a pump shotgun with a series of close-range exercises designed to sharpen your marksmanship at home defense distances. Never fired a shotgun? No worries! We start with a full safety review followed by an orientation of the mechanics and operation of a pump shotgun. By the end, you’ll be loading it confidently and successfully engaging multiple targets. All skill levels are welcome, and each person works at their own pace. Already own a pump or semi-automatic tactical shotgun? Bring it and shoot your own gun. This is one of the most fun afternoons you’ll spend at the range all year!

“I felt a little nervous before taking the shotgun workshop course, but it turned out to be even more fun than the pistol course! David put us at ease as he thoroughly covered topics such as safe handling, loading, unloading, and how to comfortably fire and reload a tactical pump shotgun. After introducing important basics, he taught special techniques to help us combine instinct, safety and practical skills. I don’t want to spoil the fun by sharing too many details, but David’s well-planned exercises that took place at the outdoor range were surprisingly fun, and challenging enough to help us build skills. I had a blast! I got to feel like a badass!”
