Why Choose a Shotgun?
The shotgun is one of the most potent, versatile, effective, and misunderstood close-quarters defensive weapons ever devised. In truth, its simple mechanics, extraordinary stopping power, and ability to deploy a wide variety of ammunition types make it an excellent defensive weapon. 

Left of Center Gun School’s defensive shotgun curriculum consists of two complementary courses: Shotgun For Home Defense and Shotgun Shooter Workshop. Taken together, they build the skills that make an accurate, tactically sound defensive shotgun shooter. We provide a variety of tactical shotguns to train with. Neither course has prerequisites. Either can come first, though we recommend starting with Shotgun For Home Defense.

Course Description
Shotgun For Home Defense is a beginner’s course covering the mechanics, operation, and strategic use of a tactical pump (slide) shotgun for defensive use in the home. The topic is serious, but the course is fun! We emphasize safety, dispel common myths, and patiently guide you through repetition of correctly executed skills until you’re completely confident managing a tactical shotgun on your own. Our hands-on, personalized training teaches you to load, unload, operate, fire, and clear malfunctions on a tactical shotgun. You also learn how to configure your shotgun for defensive use and store it safely at the ready for rapid deployment. In the second half of the classroom portion of the course, we simulate a variety of defensive scenarios to sharpen the decision-making you’d face during a home invasion.

The course runs a half-day of hands-on training at our Silverlake studio, followed immediately by a trip to the range where you’ll fire an assortment of live shotgun rounds from a 12-gauge, 20-gauge and .410-bore tactical shotgun with your LOC instructor coach at your side. Already own a semi-automatic tactical shotgun? Bring it to train with! The material carries over well to semi-auto shotguns.

Course Price: $300 + $35 ammo. (Range fees= approx. $35 paid to the range.)
