TRAINING

The NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification. To become an NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO), you must pass this RSO course and demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
Course Content
The RSO course content consists of RSO’s roles and responsibilities, range standard operating procedures, range inspection and range rules, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, and Range Safety Briefings which include procedures to follow in the case of an emergency. RSO’s who have successfully completed the course then have the ability to become a Chief Range Safety Officer (NRA RSO Instructor), someone essential to training and supervising NRA Range Safety Officers and developing range standard operating procedures.
Course Description
The course begins promptly at 8AM. This is a long but rewarding day! We familiarize you with a wide variety of firearms types. You learn how to load and unload pump shotguns, semi-automatic rifles and shotguns, hinge action and bolt action guns, revolvers and an extensive range of handgun types. It is a very hardware-intensive hands-on experience.
Step up your game and earn this nationally recognized professional certification!

“LOC’s Range Safety Officer class was the perfect next step in my gun journey. Dave taught us how to safely load, unload, and handle all types of pistols and long guns, and after the certification test, we got to start assisting him in workshops, helping to make sure everyone at the range handled their firearms safely. There’s real pride in passing that knowledge on and showing people guns don’t have to be scary once you know how to handle them correctly. Made some great friends along the way too! Highly recommend the RSO class to anyone looking to go deeper with LOC and get more confident handling firearms.”
