Inspecting Your Inherited Guns
Do you have guns you’ve inherited but have absolutely no idea what to do with them? We’re happy to look at them at our Silverlake studio and give you our expert advice for FREE. Or if you prefer, we can come to you to have a look at them. (Private Instruction rates apply for house calls.)

Registering Guns
Do you have guns that are not properly registered with the state?  We can help you get that sorted. The paperwork is not hard, but you’ll need a Firearms Safety Certificate first. You can bring the gun(s) to our studio and take your FSC test on the same visit.  (We’ll even provide an envelope and a stamp so you can send the completed paperwork off in the mail.)

Purchasing Your First Gun
We can walk you through the entire process of finding and purchasing your first gun. We offer customized packages that include 1-on-1 training, test-firing options, and purchasing that first gun. We can even help you find a gun through an online vendor source and walk you through the process of getting it shipped to California.

Getting Rid of Unwanted Guns
We can walk you through the process of how to legally get rid of unwanted guns. It’s not hard, and we don’t want your guns, but we can help you navigate the many possible routes for selling them.

Passing your FSC & Safe Handling Demonstration
Are you concerned about passing the state-mandated requirements for gun ownership in California? You’re not alone! Pistol Shooter 1 covers all these topics and that’s one option.  However, you can also just make an appointment and stop by our Silverlake studio, and we’ll prep you for the FSC and teach you how to execute a proper safe handling demonstration. You can even take the FSC test while you’re here.

Deciding on a Red-Dot
Deciding on a red-dot is an oddly nuanced topic. Some guns are not “red-dot ready.” Others are precut to accept only certain brands of red-dots. Still others come precut with a proprietary footprint that requires you to order an adaptor plate specific to the red-dot you’ve chosen. It can be a bit confusing. Let us help you sort it out. Installing a Red-Dot on Your Gun
Do you want help installing a red-dot reflex optic properly onto your gun? We can help with the installation. (FYI: You need to apply a special type of Locktite on the screws, not the stuff from Home Depot!) Loc Pistol Shooter 1 alumni qualify for this service for FREE.

Zeroing your New Red-Dot
Have you just had a red-dot optic installed on your gun? It needs to be boresighted and then sighted in with live fire. Book a range coaching appointment and we can zero your red-dot as part of the session time. During the session we’ll teach you how to do it yourself for the future. (Visit our Private Instruction page for details about booking range appointments.)

Milling a Handgun Slide to Receive a Red-Dot
No, we won’t do the milling, but we’ll walk you through the process of determining the footprint you’ll need for the particular optic you’ve chosen, and afterwards put you in contact with local experts who can mill your slide.

Learning how to Disassemble and Clean Your Gun
Make an appointment to stop by the studio and we’ll show you how to take it apart (Private Instruction rates apply.) If you want to learn to clean it at the same time, save money by enrolling in our Gun Cleaning Workshop. Loc pistol/shotgun/rifle alumni qualify for this service for FREE.

Legalizing a Ghost Gun
Are you in possession of firearm without a serial number? We can help you easily make it legal. The process starts with you getting an FSC, then filling out the appropriate paperwork and sending it to the state. Next we’ll accompany you to an FFL who is licensed to stamp the new serial number into it. (Note: We are discrete and will maintain your absolute privacy throughout the process.)

Court Ordered Firearms Safety Training
Have you been ordered by the courts to take a Firearms Safety Class? We can administer the training and provide you with a certificate of completion. You can accomplish this either by taking Pistol Shooter 1 or booking a few hours of Private Instruction.

Residential Assessment for Home Defense
Are you contemplating a home defense strategy that involves keeping a firearm at the ready? Would you like us to do a walk-through of your residence and give you our best strategic advice? We’re here to help. (Private Instruction rates apply for house calls.)
