We’ll be training with Marline 336 RC\, a Ruger Mini 14\, a Savage Axis II Precision in .223\, a Ruger 10-22\, and a Ruger PC 9mm Backpacker.   \nIn the morning You’ll learn how to operate\, load & unload\, hold\, aim\, and fire each one. Next\, we take a dive into bullets\, ballistics\, and the art of acquiring targets and ranging targets using both glass optics and iron sights.  \nIn the afternoon we jump in our cars and head over to Oak Tree Gun Club in Newhall\, CA and put it all into practice. We fire a total of 65 rounds from all the various rifles listed at distances up to 140 yards.  \nValue Add: The Ruger PC 9mm Backpacker is an outstanding home defense weapon. It is small and has the weight and feel of a BB gun in your hands. It fires a 9mm pistol bullet from a standard Glock pistol magazine so it has virtually no perceived recoil.  We love it for two reasons: First\, it has a long history of successful police use (in its previous 1980’s wooden stock edition)\, and second\, it is one of the few legal 9mm carbines available in California NOT classified as an “assault rifle.”   \nThis is a really interesting and fun day.  Come join us! \nDave Selmo \nFYI: Can’t find a course date that works for you? If you want a spot\, do not wait to enroll. \nCourse Description:  In 2015 the United States Department of Defenselaunched a nation-wide initiative to get civilians trained to help save a lifefrom traumatic bleeding. Preventing bleed-out was a primary objective of TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care) developed by the SEALS in the mid 1990’s. The Army then put TCCC into play with the 75th Ranger Battalion\, and eventuallyTCCC was adopted by Delta Force. Currently\, it is the universal SOP for all branches of the military and civilian law enforcement. The US DOD’s goal if for YOU too to know how to stop traumatic bleeding and save a life and Left of Center Gun School is helping the US DOD achieve that goal.  \nStop The Bleed is supposed to be a 1-hour course but I’m giving us 1.5 hours just to be safe 🙂 There is a short power point that accompanies the classroom teaching. This is a hands-on program where you will learn to stop traumatic bleeding by a variety of easy methods.  You’ll learn to store a tourniquet at the ready for self-application and you’ll learn to apply a tourniquet both to yourself and others. You’ll also learn to pack a severely bleeding wound with life-saving gauze. Upon completion of the course\, you will receive a US DOD Stop The Bleed nationally recognized certification. I’ll show you how to hold them\, aim them\, fire them\, and be safe with them throughout it all.  After a couple hours we’ll then all head over to Oak Tree Gun Club in Newhall (35-minute drive) and have lunch at their on-site bar & grill.  After lunch it’s only a 4-minute walk over to the outdoor pistol range where you get to experience a live-fire session under my careful supervision and assistance of our all-women LOC NRA Range Safety Officers. We’ll stand right next to you and walk you through the range experience.  If you are gun owner\, we’ll give you as much autonomy over your firearm as you desire and I’ll coach you at your current skill level.  If you are brand new to guns\, we will take on as much of the burden of the gun handling experience as you want us to.
