This is classroom only.  No firearms or ammo required.  The NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification. To become an NRA Range Safety Officer\, you must pass the RSO course and demonstrate that you possess the knowledge\, skills\, andattitude essential to organizing\, conducting\, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations. \nCourse Content \nThe RSO course content consists of RSO’s roles and responsibilities\, range standard operating procedures\, range inspection and range rules\, firearm stoppages and malfunctions\, and Range Safety Briefings which include procedures to follow in the case of an emergency. RSO’s who have successfully completed the course then have the ability to become a Chief Range Safety Officer (NRA RSO Insturctor)\, someone essential to training and supervising NRA Range Safety Officers and developing range standard operating procedures. \nWe will spend a LOT of time in the course going over a wide variety of firearms types.  You’ll have a chance to learn how to load and unload pump shotguns\, semi-automatic rifles and shotguns\, hinge action and bolt action guns\, revolvers and myriad of handgun types.  It is a very “hardware-intensive hands-on” experience. \n \nStep up your game and earn this nationally recognized certification! \nDave Selmo \n

These clinics are not traditional classes – they are half- or full-day events in which women learn gun safety\, explore shooting disciplines\, refresh skills\, and meet others who share an interest in shooting sports.  Left of Center Gun School is excited to partner with Women On Target®  and host these outstanding clinics!  All participants receive a Women On Target® new shooter gift bag free of charge from the NRA. (Contents may vary.) \nWho is this clinic for?  Women who already own guns and women who do not but are curious about them.  If you own a gun\, BRING YOUR GUN and train with it.  If you are new to guns\, we’ll provide the guns and literally walk you through this entire experience! For women new to guns\, this is intended to be a low stress and super fun introduction to the whole topic of guns.  If you already own a gun\, or you are a Pistol Shooter 1 alumna\, this clinic will be an AWESOME refresher and coaching session. \nWhat is involved?  You come over to our Silverlake studio and we share a cup of coffee and have introductions all around.  Then I’ll thoroughly cover gun safety and introduce you to a variety of different handguns. I’ll show you how to hold them\, aim them\, fire them\, and be safe with them throughout it all.  After a couple hours we’ll then all head over to Oak Tree Gun Club in Newhall (35-minute drive) and have lunch at their on-site bar & grill.  After lunch it’s only a 4-minute walk over to the outdoor pistol range where you get to experience a live-fire session under my careful supervision and assistance of our all-women LOC NRA Range Safety Officers. We’ll stand right next to you and walk you through the range experience.  If you are gun owner\, we’ll give you as much autonomy over your firearm as you desire and I’ll coach you at your current skill level.  If you are brand new to guns\, we will take on as much of the burden of the gun handling experience as you want us to. For example\, do you want to load the gun yourself?  We’ll show you how and you can do it.
