I am totally open to adding a new date to the calendar. \nCourse Description: \nIntro To Rifles is a super fun day that starts at 9am at our Silverlake studio where you’re introduced to 3 different rifle-types: semi-auto\, lever\, and bolt-action. We’ll be training with Marline 336 RC\, a Ruger Mini 14\, a Savage Axis II Precision in .223\, a Ruger 10-22\, and a Ruger PC 9mm Backpacker.   \nIn the morning You’ll learn how to operate\, load & unload\, hold\, aim\, and fire each one. Next\, we take a dive into bullets\, ballistics\, and the art of acquiring targets and ranging targets using both glass optics and iron sights.  \nIn the afternoon we jump in our cars and head over to Oak Tree Gun Club in Newhall\, CA and put it all into practice. We fire a total of 65 rounds from all the various rifles listed at distances up to 140 yards.  \nValue Add: The Ruger PC 9mm Backpacker is an outstanding home defense weapon. It is small and has the weight and feel of a BB gun in your hands. It fires a 9mm pistol bullet from a standard Glock pistol magazine so it has virtually no perceived recoil.  We love it for two reasons: First\, it has a long history of successful police use (in its previous 1980’s wooden stock edition)\, and second\, it is one of the few legal 9mm carbines available in California NOT classified as an “assault rifle.”  You will be receiving elements of our Carbine for Home Defense training as part of this rifle class. \nThis is a really interesting and fun day.  Come join us! \nDave Selmo

Most of our clients have no prior experience with firearms of any kind. Our goal is to bring apolitical\, safe\, and above all fun firearms training directly to those who would not otherwise seek it from their local gun range.  \nOur pistol course is a hands-on\, boutique\, full-day experience that utilizes an array of slide action semi-automatic and revolver style handguns\, state-of-the-art laser engagement training aids\, and creative and entertaining multimedia. Completion of an optional on-line self-study component provides eligibility to qualify for a nationally recognized certification upon completing the course.  \nWe are newbie-friendly\, and start from the absolute beginning with fear mitigation. By the end of the course\, you will be able to comfortably\, safely\, and confidently operate and fire a handgun with expertise. The course culminates with a trip to the firing range where you will fire 100 rounds of ammunition with one-on-one live-fire coaching. \n     The FSC \nAt the end of the day you’ll have an opportunity to take your FSC test.  If you do not know what a Firearms Safety Certificate is\, do not worry about this yet!  You will learn about it in class. An FSC is required for registering\, purchasing\, or even borrowing a firearm in the state of California. The state fee to take the 30-question multiple choice test is $25. With a passing score of just 23 correct\, I will print and laminate your card on the spot for you. It’s valid for 5 years.   \n     Pistol Shooter 1 Course Handbook  \nAs part of your Pistol Shooter 1 course\, you will receive a 91-page handbook that has an excellent review section for the FSC. We’ll stand right next to you and walk you through the range experience.  If you are gun owner\, we’ll give you as much autonomy over your firearm as you desire and I’ll coach you at your current skill level.  If you are brand new to guns\, we will take on as much of the burden of the gun handling experience as you want us to. I am totally open to adding a new date to the calendar. \n \nCourse Description: \nShotgun For Home Defense is a beginner’s course that teaches the mechanics\, operation\, and philosophical deployment of a tactical slide action (“pump”) shotgun for defensive use in the home. The topic is serious\, but the course is fun! We emphasize safety\, dispel myths\, and patiently supervise the abundant repetition of correctly executed skills until you are completely confident in your ability to manage a tactical shotgun on your own.  \nIn the morning our personalized hands-on training will teach you to hold\, load\, unload\, operate\, mount and fire a tactical shotgun. You learn how to discern what is the correct size and style of pump shotgun for your body-type. You’ll also learn how to tactically configure your shotgun for defensive use and how to safely store it at the ready inside your home for rapid defensive deployment.  \nIn the afternoon we’ll then head over to Oak Tree Gun Club in Newhall\, CA where you will shoot a wide variety of shotgun rounds from .410-gauge\, 20-gauge\, and 12-gauge pump shotguns with your LOC instructor coach by your side.
