I am totally open to adding a new date to the calendar. \n \nCourse Description: \nPistol Shooter Workshops are held in the spring and fall on a private range at Burro Canyon Shooting Park in Azusa\, CA.  Bring your own gun (and at least 2 magazines) or use one of ours.  You’ll fire upwards of 300 rounds from an overhead-protected shooting pavilion comfortably out of the sun.  \nIf you are currently a handgun owner or you intend to become one\, this workshop is one of the most beneficial training sessions Left of Center Gun School currently offers to our handgun clients.  The course focuses on taking your gun-slinger skills to a whole new level and is ultimately aimed at getting you confidently and fully independent with your handgun.  \nWe’ll start things off with an intense review of all your basics (command grip\, two-hand grip\, loading and indexing mags\, hold control\, sight picture\, breath control\, trigger squeeze\, and follow through). Then we’ll get into rapid mag changes\, immediate action drills for clearing the weapon when it jams in a fire fight\, one handed shooting\, rapid shooting\, and we’ll introduce you to point-shooting. (Point-shooting involves hitting man-sized targets at home defense distances without using the gun sights. Just “point” and “shoot.”) These are quick reaction defensive combat shooting skills you will want to have in a home defense situation.  \nBring your folding camp chair and a hearty lunch because we’ll take a relaxing lunch break at the midpoint. Most of our clients have no prior experience with firearms of any kind. Our goal is to bring apolitical\, safe\, and above all fun firearms training directly to those who would not otherwise seek it from their local gun range.  \nOur pistol course is a hands-on\, boutique\, full-day experience that utilizes an array of slide action semi-automatic and revolver style handguns\, state-of-the-art laser engagement training aids\, and creative and entertaining multimedia. Completion of an optional on-line self-study component provides eligibility to qualify for a nationally recognized certification upon completing the course.  \nWe are newbie-friendly\, and start from the absolute beginning with fear mitigation. By the end of the course\, you will be able to comfortably\, safely\, and confidently operate and fire a handgun with expertise. The course culminates with a trip to the firing range where you will fire 100 rounds of ammunition with one-on-one live-fire coaching. \n     The FSC \nAt the end of the day you’ll have an opportunity to take your FSC test.  If you do not know what a Firearms Safety Certificate is\, do not worry about this yet!  You will learn about it in class. This is an all-day adventure course for WOMEN ONLY\, and assumes you’ve never handled a gun. Everything is provided including guns to train on\, ammo\, and all protective gear for the range. We’ll start at our Silverlake studio\, train all morning\, then head up to OakTree Gun Club in Newhall\, CA (35 min drive)\, and have a relaxing lunch at their lodge. Buy your lunch there or pack your own and bring with you. Either way\, once we are refreshed\, we’ll then walk over to the outdoor pistol range and fire 50-100 rounds from the revolver(s) you trained on. I am totally open to adding a new date to the calendar. \n \nCourse Description: \nShotgun For Home Defense is a beginner’s course that teaches the mechanics\, operation\, and philosophical deployment of a tactical slide action (“pump”) shotgun for defensive use in the home. The topic is serious\, but the course is fun! We emphasize safety\, dispel myths\, and patiently supervise the abundant repetition of correctly executed skills until you are completely confident in your ability to manage a tactical shotgun on your own.  \nIn the morning our personalized hands-on training will teach you to hold\, load\, unload\, operate\, mount and fire a tactical shotgun. You learn how to discern what is the correct size and style of pump shotgun for your body-type. You’ll also learn how to tactically configure your shotgun for defensive use and how to safely store it at the ready inside your home for rapid defensive deployment.  \nIn the afternoon we’ll then head over to Oak Tree Gun Club in Newhall\, CA where you will shoot a wide variety of shotgun rounds from .410-gauge\, 20-gauge\, and 12-gauge pump shotguns with your LOC instructor coach by your side.
