I am totally open to adding a new date to the calendar.   \nCoure Description: \nWomen’s Revolver Getaway! is a fun educational adventure day learning about gun safety and handling.  A revolver is easy to learn!  It’s an excellent choice for a home defense due to its ease of operation and extreme reliability. This is an all-day adventure course for WOMEN ONLY\, and assumes you’ve never handled a gun. Everything is provided including guns to train on\, ammo\, and all protective gear for the range. We’ll start at our Silverlake studio\, train all morning\, then head up to OakTree Gun Club in Newhall\, CA (35 min drive)\, and have a relaxing lunch at their lodge. Buy your lunch there or pack your own and bring with you. Either way\, once we are refreshed\, we’ll then walk over to the outdoor pistol range and fire 50-100 rounds from the revolver(s) you trained on. Upon completion of this course and a successful qualification score at the range\, you will earn a nationally recognized NRA Basics of Pistol Shooter – Revolver certification.  If you own your own revolver we encourage you to bring it and train with it (but please leave live ammo at home or in your car.)  \n     The FSC \nAt the end of the morning session (before we head to Oak Tree) you’ll have an opportunity to take your FSC test.  If you do not know what a Firearms Safety Certificate is\, do not worry about this yet!  You will learn about it in class. An FSC is required for registering\, purchasing\, or even borrowing a firearm in the state of California. The state fee to take the 30-question multiple choice test is $25. With a passing score of just 23 correct\, I will print and laminate your card on the spot for you. I am totally open to adding a new date to the calendar. \n \nCourse Description: \nPistol Shooter Workshops are held in the spring and fall on a private range at Burro Canyon Shooting Park in Azusa\, CA.  Bring your own gun (and at least 2 magazines) or use one of ours.  You’ll fire upwards of 300 rounds from an overhead-protected shooting pavilion comfortably out of the sun.  \nIf you are currently a handgun owner or you intend to become one\, this workshop is one of the most beneficial training sessions Left of Center Gun School currently offers to our handgun clients.  The course focuses on taking your gun-slinger skills to a whole new level and is ultimately aimed at getting you confidently and fully independent with your handgun.  \nWe’ll start things off with an intense review of all your basics (command grip\, two-hand grip\, loading and indexing mags\, hold control\, sight picture\, breath control\, trigger squeeze\, and follow through). Then we’ll get into rapid mag changes\, immediate action drills for clearing the weapon when it jams in a fire fight\, one handed shooting\, rapid shooting\, and we’ll introduce you to point-shooting. (Point-shooting involves hitting man-sized targets at home defense distances without using the gun sights. Just “point” and “shoot.”) These are quick reaction defensive combat shooting skills you will want to have in a home defense situation.  \nBring your folding camp chair and a hearty lunch because we’ll take a relaxing lunch break at the midpoint. You learn how to discern what is the correct size and style of pump shotgun for your body-type. We’ll be training with Marline 336 RC\, a Ruger Mini 14\, a Savage Axis II Precision in .223\, a Ruger 10-22\, and a Ruger PC 9mm Backpacker.   \nIn the morning You’ll learn how to operate\, load & unload\, hold\, aim\, and fire each one. Next\, we take a dive into bullets\, ballistics\, and the art of acquiring targets and ranging targets using both glass optics and iron sights.  \nIn the afternoon we jump in our cars and head over to Oak Tree Gun Club in Newhall\, CA and put it all into practice. We fire a total of 65 rounds from all the various rifles listed at distances up to 140 yards.  \nValue Add: The Ruger PC 9mm Backpacker is an outstanding home defense weapon. It is small and has the weight and feel of a BB gun in your hands. It fires a 9mm pistol bullet from a standard Glock pistol magazine so it has virtually no perceived recoil.  We love it for two reasons: First\, it has a long history of successful police use (in its previous 1980’s wooden stock edition)\, and second\, it is one of the few legal 9mm carbines available in California NOT classified as an “assault rifle.”  You will be receiving elements of our Carbine for Home Defense training as part of this rifle class. \nThis is a really interesting and fun day.  Come join us! \nDave Selmo

Let’s discuss creating a new course date that does! I am totally open to adding a new date to the calendar.   \nCoure Description: \nWomen’s Revolver Getaway! is a fun educational adventure day learning about gun safety and handling.  A revolver is easy to learn!  It’s an excellent choice for a home defense due to its ease of operation and extreme reliability. This is an all-day adventure course for WOMEN ONLY\, and assumes you’ve never handled a gun. Everything is provided including guns to train on\, ammo\, and all protective gear for the range. We’ll start at our Silverlake studio\, train all morning\, then head up to OakTree Gun Club in Newhall\, CA (35 min drive)\, and have a relaxing lunch at their lodge. Buy your lunch there or pack your own and bring with you. Either way\, once we are refreshed\, we’ll then walk over to the outdoor pistol range and fire 50-100 rounds from the revolver(s) you trained on. Upon completion of this course and a successful qualification score at the range\, you will earn a nationally recognized NRA Basics of Pistol Shooter – Revolver certification.  If you own your own revolver we encourage you to bring it and train with it (but please leave live ammo at home or in your car.)  \n     The FSC \nAt the end of the morning session (before we head to Oak Tree) you’ll have an opportunity to take your FSC test.  If you do not know what a Firearms Safety Certificate is\, do not worry about this yet!  You will learn about it in class. An FSC is required for registering\, purchasing\, or even borrowing a firearm in the state of California. The state fee to take the 30-question multiple choice test is $25. With a passing score of just 23 correct\, I will print and laminate your card on the spot for you. It’s valid for 5 years.   \n     Course Handbook  \nAs part of your Woman’ Revolver Getaway! course\, you will receive our Pistol Shooter 1 91-page handbook that has an excellent review section for the FSC. Once you have paid for the course in full\, you are welcome to stop by our Silverlake studio and pick up your handbook ahead of time and use it to study before class. (Send me a text to coordinate your pickup.) Alternatively\, you can make an appointment with me any time in the future following your course date to take the FSC.  Just check our website calendar for my availability on any given day and then reach out to me to coordinate to stop by. I’ll show you how to hold them\, aim them\, fire them\, and be safe with them throughout it all.  After a couple hours we’ll then all head over to Oak Tree Gun Club in Newhall (35 minute drive) and experience getting to fire them under my careful supervision.  I’ll stand right next to you and walk you through the range experience.  If you are gun owner\, I’ll give you as much autonomy over your firearm as you desire and I’ll coach you at your current skill level.  If you are brand new to guns\, I will take on as much of the burden of the gun handling experience as you want me to. I am totally open to adding a new date to the calendar. \n \nCourse Description: \nPistol Shooter Workshops are held in the spring and fall on a private range at Burro Canyon Shooting Park in Azusa\, CA.  Bring your own gun (and at least 2 magazines) or use one of ours.  You’ll fire upwards of 300 rounds from an overhead-protected shooting pavilion comfortably out of the sun.  \nIf you are currently a handgun owner or you intend to become one\, this workshop is one of the most beneficial training sessions Left of Center Gun School currently offers to our handgun clients.  The course focuses on taking your gun-slinger skills to a whole new level and is ultimately aimed at getting you confidently and fully independent with your handgun.  \nWe’ll start things off with an intense review of all your basics (command grip\, two-hand grip\, loading and indexing mags\, hold control\, sight picture\, breath control\, trigger squeeze\, and follow through). Then we’ll get into rapid mag changes\, immediate action drills for clearing the weapon when it jams in a fire fight\, one handed shooting\, rapid shooting\, and we’ll introduce you to point-shooting. (Point-shooting involves hitting man-sized targets at home defense distances without using the gun sights. Just “point” and “shoot.”) These are quick reaction defensive combat shooting skills you will want to have in a home defense situation.  \nBring your folding camp chair and a hearty lunch because we’ll take a relaxing lunch break at the midpoint.
